LIHSA Hosts Annual Guidance Counselor Day
On Friday, March 5th LIHSA hosted its Annual Guidance Counselor Day from 8:15 AM-2:30 PM. Nassau and Suffolk County high school guidance counselors had the opportunity to tour our state of the art facility, meet our faculty of teachers and practicing professional artists and learn why our typical graduating class of one hundred students earn more than 7 million dollars in scholarships and grants each year. Counselors learned about our Digital Music and Media Laboratory where students can learn to do everything from film and video game scoring to orchestration and popular music production. In our Film department, counselors could view our student produced film that won the Best Student Film from the Long Island Film Festival. Our Technical Theatre department students demonstrated their expertise in professional lighting design, audio production, and stage management skills. Counselors met with students from their districts in a Q & A panel discussion group. Following a luncheon counselors had the opportunity to view the work of their Visual Arts department students in our main gallery and attend an Interarts Workshop performance in the LIHSA Theatre.
