"Most Likely To" Garners 10 Nominations
The Mid-Town International Theatre Festival 2010 Awards committee has nominated "Most Likely To" for the following awards:

Three LIHSA Alumni Featured on Broadway
This year The Great White Way will include THREE LIHSA alumni.
John Carroll will be performing in a new production of "Women On The Verge", Sean Samuels can be seen in "Spiderman" and Tracy Victory Skolberg will continue her role in "Mama Mia".
LIHSA Students Recognized by the Long Island Arts Alliance Committee
The Long Island Arts Alliance has selected 2 LIHSA students as 2010-2011 Scholar-Artists. Nicole Altchiler from the Half Hollow Hills school district has been selected in the area of Dance and Meghan Flynn from the Northport school district has been selected in the area of Theatre. Amanda Costa from the Levittown school district was selected for an Award of Excellence in the area of Visual Arts. Students will be featured in Newsday for their accomplishments and an awards ceremony will celebrate this year's Scholar-Artists at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts next Spring.
LIHSA Summer Arts Academy Celebrates with Performances
Celebrating Summer Arts Academy 2010 "Road Trip" our Music and Visual Arts Departments presented their creative accomplishments on our stage and in our gallery on Tuesday, July 27th at 1:00. Our Musical Theatre and Creative Writing Departments performed on Wednesday, July 28th at 1:00 and our Dance and Drama students performed on Thursday, July 29th at 1:00.
Summer Arts Academy
Each summer, Long Island youngsters entering grades 6-12 explore their artistic talents at the Long Island High School for the Arts' Summer Arts Academy. For four weeks in July (July 6-30) , daily classes and workshops are held at the school's state-of-the-art, air conditioned arts complex, complete with dance studios, skylit art studios, practice rooms and a fully equipped professional theatre. Classes are available in drama, musical theatre, creative writing, dance, music, and the visual arts. LIHSA Alumni Perform on Broadway
The Midtown International Theatre Festival presented "Most Likely To" at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row, 42nd Street NYC.
Performances were held on July 18th and 19th at 7 pm, with July 21st SOLD OUT, July 24th at 2 pm, and July 28th at 8 pm. This production featured an ALL LIHSA ALUMNI cast:
Laura Jane Collins, Stage Manager, Andrew J. Beck, Gina Marie Bilardi, Amanda Castanos, Alexander Greif, Christopher Hlinka, Katie Hoffmann, Steven Liberto, Lyle Colby Mackston, Melissa Rapelje, Lauren Renner, Sarah Sixt, Matthew Walsh, and Jesse Zeidman.
Production written by LIHSA Drama teacher, Michael Tester, under the Musical Direction of Elliot Weiss, Directed by Abbe Gail Gross, with Lighting Design by Debra Dumas.
LIHSA Arts Spring Festivals
LIHSA has completed its Spring 2010 Festivals.
Drama and Musical Theatre: Saturday, May 8th at 7:30 P.M.
Music: Monday, May 17th at 7:00 P.M.
Dance: Friday, May 21st at 7:30 P.M.
Film and Writing: Thursday, May 27th at 7:00 P.M.
Senior Art Gallery Exhibitions preceeded each performance.
LIHSA Students Perform at don't tell mama
LIHSA staff and studentsl presented "An Evening of Cabaret" at N.Y.C.'s world famous Cabaret Room, don't tell mama on Tuesday evening, May 18th at 7 PM and 9 PM.
Students performed musical numbers under the direction of their LIHSA Drama teacher and LIHSA musical accompanist. The theatre was filled on May 18th as we enjoyed the performances of Alexandra Albright and Danielle Scheinthal from the Half Hollow Hills school district, Jacqueline Fisher from Levittown, Mariel Horn from Massapequa, Leandra McNair from Westbury and Jaimee Ranieri from Farmingdale school district.
Long Island Arts Alliance Awards Gala Recognizes LIHSA Students
On Sunday, May 16th at 1:00 P.M. The Long Island Arts Alliance ARTS Scholar-Artist Awards Gala celebrated the accomplishments of student artists. LIHSA's 2010 LIAA award recipients are Heather Conn in Dance from the Locust Valley school district, Steven Liberto in Theatre from the Locust Valley school district , and Katherine McLennan in Theatre from the Harborfields school district. LIHSA students also garnered Awards of Excellence. In Visual Arts: Erin Boyle from the Massapequa school district and Leigh Rynecki in Music from the Long Beach school district were recognized by the committee. The awards ceremony was held at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York.
LIHSA Students Perform at the Nassau BOCES "Educational Partner" Awards Gala
On Thursday evening, May 6th members of the LIHSA Jazz Band entertained during the Nassau BOCES "Educational Partner" Award Gala cocktail hour. Leigh Rynecki from the Long Beach school district, Alfred Marino from the Massapequa school district, Brett Pontecorvo from the Comsewogue school district and Edward Matthews from the Port Washington school district played. Following the cocktail hour, the main reception opened with a moving rendition of "America" sung by LIHSA vocal trio: Leandra Mc Nair from Westbury, Jaimee Ranieri from Farmingdale, and Jagger Kugler from Massapequa.
