Twenty Years Ago...

Can it really be two full decades since I was a senior at BOCES? Sometimes it seems just yesterday that I was steering my banana yellow oldsmobile into the parking lot and trying not to bash the corrugated wall of the library. Hanging out with Dionne Romero(still in contact), Brian,Molly,Johanna, Ruth, Austin,Jim,David, Erica, Joey,Pru and all the fab people that made CAC the coolest place to be. Where are you guys? Remember the show in the tent when it started to pour and we had to hold the elctricity cables up? Dropping spoons in the Lambeth walk? Everything cheap and sleazy. Falling asleep in the folding chairs while relaxing for Mimi? Miming with Jill. 'Una Fortiva Lagrima' with Sal.Playing 'ashes' in the boy's changing room? Times step with Pat? Patty Bays just being sweet? The first show in the new theatre? I sang 'God Bless America'We were so lucky. Memories came flooding back when my 11 yr. old son asked for help with the music he is singing for select choir. The Tale of Sweeny Todd. Without BOCES, I wouldn't have been able to show him how to deal with all those changes of time signature. I then treated him to 'The Worst Pies in London' and half of 'Sunday in the Park with George'. My son, unsurprisingly, wasn't keen to hear more. Mum is really embarassing. I learned more at BOCES than I did at NYU about taking risks and enjoying the process. The bank of knowledge still stands me in good stead in my writing. Thanks Ava! PS- How's our tree?
