2012 LIHSA Summer Arts Academy
The Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts will again offer a Summer Arts Academy that promises to be a rewarding experience for all aspiring young artists. The program offers students professional level individualized coursework designed to provide challenging artistic opportunities. The Summer Arts Academy runs from July 2nd through July 27th from 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Course offerings include Creative Writing, Dance, Drama and Musical Theater, Instrumental and Vocal Music, Music Technology, Audio/Video Recording, Visual Arts, and an optional program open to students in grades 10-12 in Performance Workshop.
The LIHSA Summer Arts Academy is open to students entering 6th grade through 12th grade, located at the Long Island High School for the Arts in Syosset, New York. To apply, contact your guidance counselor for an application or contact our office at 516-622-5663 for additional information.

Students Perform at "don't tell mama"
On Tuesday evening, May 15th at 7:00 p.m. at N.Y.C.'s world famous cabaret room, "don't tell mama" LIHSA students performed to a full house. Musical Theater majors: Kimberly Dyckman, Meredith Ginsberg, Alexandra Martin, Nicholas Regueiro, and Ernest Shieferstein performed under the direction of our Drama teacher and were accompanied by Francis Lees on piano.

Long Island High School for the Arts Faculty Alumni Gala
For the benefit of the Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts Scholarship Funds, we hosted our annual Faculty Alumni Gala on Friday evening, April 27th at 7:00 p.m. at our Syosset location.
Beginning with an outstanding Art Exhibit and Sale and followed by a perfomance at 7:30, the evening culminated with a reception and refreshments.
This year's Gala was a tribute to our remarkable and exceptional principal, Ava Favara, in celebration and recognition of her unwavering personal committment to our school and the arts.
Thank you for helping us to continue our support and encouragment of our student artists in their pursuit of excellence.

LIHSA Visual Arts Student Work Displayed at the Heckscher Museum
Selected from more than 300 student entries, LIHSA Visual Arts student, Craig White's painting was chosen for display at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington, New York. Craig attends LIHSA from the Uniondale school district.

LIHSA Students Recognized at 5th Annual Scholar-Artist Celebration
Long Island Arts Alliance recognized three LIHSA students on April 22nd at the C.W.Post Tilles Center. Recipients of the 2012 Awards of Merit were:
John McDonald from Massapequa school district for Visual Arts, Thomas Meglio from Northport school district in Theater, and Sarah Richman from Rockville Centre school district in Dance. Congratulations to this year's Merit Award winners.
